LF Rider Moehau Goold in Tahiti with Hinano

LF Rider Moe – The Goose- Goold has been traveling the world living out of his board bag for the past few years. A native Tahitian from Bora Bora, Moehau grew up in a place many only dream of ever visiting.. Yet Moe’s responsibilities with LF and dedications to his kiteboarding have had him spending most of his time in Hawaii, Australia, US, and Europe the past few years riding strong and promoting Liquid Force STYLE and the amazing products that LF makes for kiting.

Recently Moehau signed with a Tahitian board sports clothing company Hinano and took advantage of an opportunity to travel back to Tahiti for the Hinano photoshoot and some much needed time back home.

In Moe’s words:

Home sweet home. Its always so nice to come home especially when Tahiti is your home.

I have been traveling all over the world but never really have explored the hundreds of islands that surround the Island I was born and raised on called “Bora Bora” located in the south pacific in French Polynesia.

After signing with Hinano this year they gave me the opportunity to finally explore, by organizing a trip in the Tuamotu Islands and the Australe Islands. Its pretty cool that Hinano is getting into kiteboarding and surfing, with a full line of clothes. Check them out at www.hinanolife.com

We heard from the locals that the Tuamotu islands were renown for having perfect surf. And the Australe Islands were renown for its strong winds 300 days out of the year especially the island of Tubuai. So I packed my boards, kites and off we went.

The first thing I noticed was WIND, crystal clear water, miles of white sand beaches, thousands of coconut trees and perfect surf. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions. I’ve kited all over the world but I’ve never kited a better place then here!

Everything was served on a silver platter, wind, surf, all you can eat lagoon fish, deep sea fish and of course we were welcome by the nicest family, whom let us stay in their home because they were located 1 minute from kitebeach and the surf.

I would wake up in the morning, look out the window at the most perfect kitting spot.
The wind was really consistent there because there were no mountains anywhere near. The Tuamotus are Atolls. Which is pretty much a circular barrier reef covered with white sand and coconut trees and a crystal clear lagoon in the middle.

We kited and surfed everyday for a week till we heard of a 10 foot swell at teahupoo with a possibility of side shore winds which is pretty rare for this time of the year so we packed and headed back to Tahiti.

We arrived the day before the swell was going to hit so we had time to get ready.
I put my freestyle kiteboard away and got my surfboards out. I normally kitesurf without straps but the wind gets a bit offshore in Teahupoo so I put my straps on and made sure my gear was ready.

So the next day we got up at 5am and headed to the end of the road which is an hour drive from where we were staying. Once there, we got on a boat out to the break. Unfortunatly, it never got windy enough to kite Teahupoo but we surfed all morning hoping for the wind to pick up.

Even though I didn’t get to kite it that day, I got some waves, broke a board, got held under water, hit the reef and got tossed over the reef…

Not so much fun without a kite. It was small enough to paddle into but still had sets to get towed in on a jet sky or on a kite, so I could imagine what I could of done if there was wind.

Today Im heading back to Teahupoo to try to score another swell and better wind conditions. Keep you posted…
